Caldas da Rainha - City of Spas and Arts
Known for its thermalism, the charming city of Caldas da Rainha has attracted the Portuguese court since the 15th century and with-it great personalities linked to the arts, such as the painter José Malhoa and Bordallo Pinheiro.
From painting to ceramics, the city is dotted with museums, built around the historic Termas building, with its lake and romantic garden.
There are countless good restaurants in Caldas da Rainha e and pastry shops with the famous Trouxas de Ovos, Cavacas and Beijinhos das Caldas, among other conventual sweets. For an extra programme, the beach at foz do Arelho and the Óbidos Lagoon are ideal for resting, picnicking or even trying a lesson of Stand-Up Paddle or canoeing.
