Algarve is home to some of the world’s finest beaches and is consistently voted one of Europe’s top beach destinations. Its idyllic beaches, impressive cliffs and rich history provide the perfect scenery for an unforgettable experience. With around 200 km of coastline, there is no lack of luxury hotel options in the Algarve, but we recommend Albufeira for its central location. The Algarve is well-connected by a highway, trains, bus and air. Faro, the regional capital, has its own airport, but you can also fly into Lisbon or Seville and continue your journey by car, train, or bus.

Located around a three-hour flight from major European cities, a 2.5-hour drive from Lisbon or Seville, and just 40 minutes from Faro International Airport, Albufeira is the Algarve's heart.

Tips

Best time to visit: Spring and Fall are the most pleasant seasons with mild temperatures and fewer crowds.
Accommodation: Choose a well-located hotel in the Algarve, ideally with a pool and spa.
Transportation: To explore the region, we recommend renting a car.
Booking: Booking in advance is essential during the peak season. Early booking is more likely to secure a stay in Albufeira, especially in 5-star hotels , at a better price.

Day 1: Arrival

On this first day you can enjoy relaxing by the pool, exploring Albufeira's famous marina or some of the most popular beaches such as Praia dos Pescadores, Praia dos Alemães, Praia da Oura, Praia de Santa Eulália or Praia Olhos de Água.

Savour the Algarve's rich gastronomy with some fresh, local dishes. There's no lack of good options: from the most traditional restaurant to fine dining.

Day 2: Adventures in Lagos

On this second day, continue west towards Lagos, a historic city with a picturesque harbor. Explore the famous Grutas da Ponta da Piedade and relax at Praia do Camilo, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve, known for its golden cliffs and crystal-clear waters.

All around, you can enjoy a sushi restaurant in Albufeira, close to the accommodation.

Day 3: Discovering Nature in Sagres

Sagres is a village that attracts travellers because of its famous sunsets and is particularly popular among surfers. It is known as “the land of the end of the world” because for centuries it was the literal end of the known world. Don't miss the Fortaleza de Sagres, a historic fortress with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Take the opportunity to go for a bike ride and explore the natural beauty of the Algarve coast or relax at Praia Dona Ana. For dinner, immerse in a truly traditional Portuguese gastronomic experience.

Day 4: Explore Silves

Silves is a historic town and the former capital of the Algarve. You can't miss Silves Castle, an imposing red brick fortress with breathtaking views. Spend the day in Silves or drive to Armação de Pêra to explore the town and the famous Praia dos Salgados. In the evening, try the delicious Algarvian cuisine, such as grilled fish, cataplana, seafood rice, caldeirada, frango à guia and the typical almond fruit.

Day 5: Adventures in Carvoeiro and Benagil

Visit the famous Grutas de Benagil, an iconic Algarve attraction. Take a guided boat tour, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. Afterwards, relax on Praia da Marinha, considered one of Europe's most beautiful beaches, or Praia João de Arens in Alvor.

Day 6: Local life in Algarve

Discover the beaches further east, such as Praia da Manta Rota or Praia da Cacela Velha, known for their pleasant water temperatures.

Visit a local market to experience the region's fresh produce and handicrafts. End the day on Praia da Fuseta or explore the stunning Ria Formosa Natural Park.

Day 7: Last day

Make the most of your final hours by visiting Vilamoura marina and enjoying a swim on Praia de Vilamoura.

Before departing, treat yourself to lunch at an Italian restaurant.
